Around 6 months of age, breastmilk is insufficient to meet the requirements of some nutrients, particularly energy, protein, iron and zinc.
Offering iron-containing foods first such as iron-enriched infant cereals, pureed meats, poultry and fish is recommended. Fruits, vegetables and dairy products can then be added to the diet to help avoid potential ‘nutrition gaps’ as your baby grows.
